These Terms explain how Before You're 13 works and what you agree to when you purchase, receive, or use our service.
1. About Before You're 13
Before You're 13 is a monthly letter program operated by Solace Learning LLC.
The program is designed to help families start meaningful conversations about real-life skills before the teen years.
2. Who may enroll a child
Enrollment should be completed by a parent, legal guardian, or another adult who has permission to enroll the child and provide the child's information.
Children should not complete the enrollment form on their own.
3. Subscription options
Before You're 13 may offer different enrollment options, including:
- Monthly subscription
- Annual subscription
- Community Gift enrollment for selected families
Pricing and billing terms shown during checkout apply to your purchase.
4. Monthly subscriptions
A monthly subscription is billed according to the billing schedule shown during checkout.
Monthly subscriptions may continue until canceled or until the program otherwise ends, subject to the terms shown at checkout.
5. Annual subscriptions
An annual subscription covers the subscription period described at checkout.
If an annual plan is set to renew automatically, the renewal terms shown during checkout will apply.
6. Community Gifts
A Community Gift is a complimentary Before You're 13 enrollment offered to selected families.
The Community Gift currently provides 12 months of letters at no charge during the gifted period.
No payment information is required to receive the gifted subscription.
Before the gift period ends, the parent or guardian may be given the option to choose a paid subscription if they would like the child to continue receiving letters.
A Community Gift does not automatically become a paid subscription unless the parent or guardian separately chooses and authorizes a paid plan.
7. Enrollment information
We rely on the information provided during enrollment to prepare and mail the child's letters.
You are responsible for providing accurate information, including:
- Child's name
- Child's birthdate
- Mailing address
- Selected letter edition
- Parent or guardian contact information
Please contact us if any of this information changes.
8. Welcome Letters and monthly mailing
After we receive the completed enrollment information, we aim to mail the child's Welcome Letter within 5 days.
Regular monthly letters are generally scheduled to mail on the first Monday of each month.
Mailing dates may occasionally change because of holidays, postal service conditions, severe weather, operational issues, or other circumstances outside our control.
9. Mailing and delivery
You are responsible for giving us a complete and accurate mailing address.
Once a letter has been placed with the postal service, actual delivery timing is outside our direct control.
If a letter does not arrive, contact us and we will review the situation.
10. Changes of address
If your child moves, please tell us as soon as possible.
Address changes received after a monthly mailing has already been prepared may not take effect until the following mailing.
11. Cancellations
You may request cancellation of a paid subscription according to the cancellation terms that apply to your plan.
Canceling a subscription stops future billing as provided by the applicable subscription terms.
We will provide additional cancellation and refund information in our Cancellation & Refund Policy.
12. Refunds
Refund eligibility may depend on the type of purchase, whether fulfillment has already begun, and the circumstances of the request.
Our separate Cancellation & Refund Policy will explain these rules in more detail.
13. Educational purpose
Before You're 13 provides educational and family-conversation materials.
Our letters are not medical, psychological, legal, financial, or other professional advice.
Parents and guardians should decide what is appropriate for their child and family.
14. Parent involvement
The program is designed to support conversations between children and the adults who care for them.
Parents and guardians remain responsible for supervising their child's participation and deciding how the materials are used.
15. Ownership of our materials
The Before You're 13 name, website, letter content, designs, graphics, educational materials, and other original content are owned by or licensed to Solace Learning LLC.
Purchasing or receiving a subscription gives the family the right to use the materials for personal and family use.
Materials may not be copied, sold, republished, distributed, or used commercially without written permission.
16. Appropriate use
You agree not to misuse the website, interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorized access, or use the service for unlawful purposes.
17. Website availability
We work to keep the website and enrollment systems available, but we cannot guarantee that they will always operate without interruption.
Maintenance, technical problems, internet outages, third-party service issues, or other events may temporarily affect availability.
18. Third-party services
Before You're 13 uses outside service providers to help operate the program.
These may include services for:
- Payments and checkout
- Enrollment forms
- Website hosting
- Analytics
- Advertising measurement
- Email and communications
Those providers may have their own terms and privacy practices.

20. Changes to the program
We may update the program, letter schedule, website features, subscription options, pricing, or these Terms from time to time.
Changes that affect an existing paid subscription will be handled according to applicable law and the terms of that subscription.
21. Ending or suspending service
We may suspend or end access to the service when necessary because of fraud, misuse, nonpayment, legal requirements, safety concerns, or serious violations of these Terms.
22. Limits on responsibility
We work to provide accurate, thoughtful, and age-appropriate materials and reliable service.
However, we cannot guarantee that every letter, activity, website feature, mailing date, or delivery experience will be free from errors, delays, or interruptions.
To the extent permitted by law, Solace Learning LLC is not responsible for indirect or unexpected losses resulting from the use of the website or program.
23. These Terms and applicable law
These Terms are intended to be interpreted according to applicable United States law and the laws that apply to Solace Learning LLC.
Nothing in these Terms removes rights that a consumer may have under applicable law.
24. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the program or legal requirements change.
The date at the top of this page will show when the Terms were last updated.
